Is a sincere handwritten thank you note enough or is something more like flowers, a gift basket or gift card required? What's your experience been?
Etiquette for thanking your realtor after you've finally found and bought a new home?
a note is nice, keep in mind that this is their job and they are paid quite nicely for the work that they do, that's usually thanks enough.
If they did a good job for you, referrals are always nice as well.
Reply:You have already given a signed gift - the contract. Realtor should (if they have any manners) send be sending something to you.
I received a lovely set of gardening tools after I bought my house
My retired mother received a huge bouquet of flowers when she bought hers.
Reply:Generally, the Realtor brings YOU a gift,I guess in an attempt to remove the guilt from just having robbed you blind while having done very little in return for a huge commission.I would suggest a swift kick in the hind quarters,Realtors are the worst vultures in the business world, even worse than lawyers.
Reply:It's totally up to you. But keep in mind that the realtor usually gets a nice chunk of money for closing the deal with you already--which is thanks enough. He or she was just doing his/her job. The realtor sometimes will send you flowers or something, especially at holiday time, just so you don't forget him/her 'cause he/she wants you to come back when you decide to sell.
Reply:Gee, with the commission he is getting, he should be thanking you!
Reply:If you want to send a gift then you should send a gift. Even though it does seems like they didn't do much of anything. They helped you find the best house that suits you and personally I think that's worth a thanks. It takes time for them to search for the 'perfect' house for you. You could send them a bouquet of flowers, a fruit basket, or something as simple as a thank you card. Or you could go more extravagant with some type of gift card to a high end restaurant in town. The possibilities are endless.
Reply:The MONEY they get is their thanks! A sincere verbal "Thank You" is polite. If anything, the REALTOR should buy YOU a housewarming gift to show their thanks for your choosing THEM, when most people can find a new home themselves!
Reply:whilst a really nice thought and shows great manners, like said above this person made a shed load of money off of you, so a nice note would be best and save what it would cost for the flowers towards something nice for your NEW house.
