What are the events (housewarming, staying as a guest) that warrant giving a gift and what are?
You generally give a hostess gift for things like a Christmas openhouse/party, housewarming, Thanksgiving dinner, New Years Dinner, etc. Basically, anytime someone opens up their home to you, it's thoughtful to give a hostess gift.





Popular items are candles, a bottle of wine, candy, a dessert, bath gel/lotion, stationary, a basket of goodies. Flowers are good too. Other good ideas include a Christmas ornament that may be personalized, a scented sachet or pourpourri, napkin rings, anything home decor and small.

You can't go wrong with a decent bottle of wine. Make sure nobody is a recovering alcoholic!!!
