Can you help an idea for a small "just because" gift?

I am taking my girlfriend out for a nice dinner. We've both been busy the last few weeks. Anyway we are going to one of the top restaurants in town (chicago) and it should be a nice time.





I was thinking about getting a gift (not flowers or jewelry) to surprise her with. But I'm a bit short on ideas.





So I am looking for any ideas on what might make a nice gift that feels like a nice "just because" or "thinking of you".

Can you help an idea for a small "just because" gift?
A lot of women like journals (diaries). They make some really beautiful blank ones, with special handmade paper and silk covers or pressed flowers, etc. Go to your local paper/stationery store and see what they have. Oh, and get a really nice pen to go with it (perhaps a Caran d'Ache). Don't write anything inside, that would be intrusive.





Whatever you do, DON"T get her a stuffed animal - that's just tacky! Grown up women don't need stuffed animals.

Reply:get her a nice "thinking of you" card and write something really sweet and from the heart in it, or if you're creative even make her a card and tell her how you are feeling, girls love these kinds of things. she will love either one.

You can also make her a mixed tape (old fashioned, but I ALWAYS cherish those).





You can by her a little "keep sake" a locket with your pictures in it (I know you said no jewelry... but... anyways.

Reply:I think jewelry is suppose to be for a special occasion. I am a woman and a nice "just because" gift to me is some scented oils for the bath, some scented candles in a really cute holder (both inexpensive) or you could go for the tried and true, a fluffy stuffed animal. Women melt over cute things like that. Have a nice dinner!

Reply:Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:





Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!





The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.





Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.





Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it more of a homemade feeling.
Reply:Get her some nice thick good smelling lotion from like Bath and Body Works or Victorias Secret. Or a small bottle of perfume. A nicely scented candle. Girls love things that make them soft and smell good. :)
Reply:You want to give her something that she can keep or is special enough that she remembers when you gave it to her ...how about a mug with a romantic saying (find at any stationary store)..... or a cute figurine that you can also find at a stationary..they have tons of small but romantic and meaningful items ........... enjoy your dinner..

if she collects stuffed animals for example buy her a cute little one.





if she's into music give her a cd of love songs that make you think of her.





if she's into writing... get her a notebook and write a little thinking of you letter on the first page.





a build a bear is always a bonus for girls.
