Even though my sister and I are moms, on Mother's Day our mom thinks that she's the only 1 that matters.

I want to do something special but I don't know what. She never uses the gifts even though they are things that she has interests in. For example my sister sent (she lives in another state) her a gift certficate to a spa for a massage (which my mother loves) when she (my sister) was going through some finacial difficulties and to this day my mother still hasn't used it. And when my sister asked how she enjoyed it my mother gave some flip answer like "Oh I'm not even sure where that gift certificate is." We don't like to attend Mother's Day brunches/luncheons/dinners with my mother because it doesn't feel like we are being celebrated. Mom feels like we should be waiting on her hand and foot never mind the fact that we have children of our own. She's not happy with just flowers or a gift. We have never gotten a Mom Day gift. At the most we have gotten a card. I love my mother and I want her to feel special too but just not at the expense of my happines on a day for all mothers

Send her a card and enjoy your Mother's Day with your kids.
Reply:Compromise with her, your mom sounds a little selfish though. I would so something nice for her , but still make sure you have time for just you. Good luck, and Happy Mothers Day !!!
Reply:Just say Mum I love you and want to be a good daughter to you but you need to show a little appreciation for what we (i) do for you.

We couldnt repay you for being our Mum but it would be nice if you meet us halfway.

Try and sit your ur mum down for the conversation and be calm even if you do not get the desired response at that time
Reply:Mother's Day is a day children show their appreciation for the woman who brought them up. You should show her the gratitude she deserves and not complain about it. It shouldn't even be something to stress about (unless she starts putting a crown over her head and sits on the throne, and demands you to kiss her hand before talking to her). Do what comes from your heart, and not because of obligation. That's the only thing I can tell you. You only have 1 mother in your life. You want fond memories of her long after she's gone, not the stress and misery she puts you girls through for Mother's Day.
