What's the best way to approach?

My boyfriend and I have been together for two years. The first year he showered me with sweet gifts, cards, flowers etc. I'm not a material girl at all and very selfless and while I thought those things were very thoughtful I also thought he was just showing me little ways he loved me.

A year later... The last card he has goven me was one asking for forgivness for forgetting my bday! No flowers, no sweet gifts...this year for my bday he bought me a used treadmill (that I picked out and called about because I am 7wks preg), I spent almost 400.00 dollars on him! I just left his house after staying for 5 days, washing his clothes and dishes and being so sick from pregnancy, while he goes fishing!

My point is and question is.... I need to talk to him about how I feel like I am doing and giving more. I just dont know how to bring it up without starting a fight, I dont want to seem like I am getting on his butt. Or am I being to hard on him?

What do you think?? Help please!!!

What's the best way to approach?
I think that your boyfriend is in a comfort zone right now. At first he was showering you with gifts and attention and now it seems that he feels that he does not have to do that, because he knows that he has you. Being pregnant is a wonder thing and you should feel appriciated and loved. Let him know that you miss the extra attention and that you love him, but feel that you are giving him 110% and that he is not. Let him know that you are more upset then mad and that right now you need him to show you that he adores you and will do anything for you. Let him know that you are not asking for the world and what you really want is for him to put a little more effort. I think that if you let him know that your upset and that the way he is acting is bothering you, he will understand.
Reply:This sounds like a very typical male. He was pursuing you, puttin' on the lovin', until he 'conquered' his goal. He's got you now, has even got you pregnant so now he's moved his attention onto other things in life. This isn't to say he's in the right, I'm just saying this is a typical male reaction and behaviour.

One unfortunate thing is that he hasn't made any commitment that will draw him back to his responsibility to love, honour and protect you, if you get my drift. Once a man has staked his claim in marriage, this is the standard that you can call him back to. You don't have that standard.

Yeah, you need to talk to him about this. Point out how much his displays of affections have dropped off and how that makes you feel. Stress the 'your feelings' aspect over the 'his failure' aspect. "You've done this..." statements will put him on the defensive. Start your sentences with "I feel..." Practice what you will say, even write it down to ensure you're not going to incite an argument....but it might come anyway.

Yeah, you're pregnant and a little more emotional, but all the more reason that he needs to be puttin' on the lovin' again. This is how relationships stay fresh and vital. Let that slide, and problems start.

All the best to you~~
Reply:My advise is to stop being his mother. It's your choice to wash his clothes and do his dishes while he went fishing. He's getting used to you doing it all and loves it.
Reply:Imo, I think you should make him a nice dinner one night, to ease the tension that this might bring and just let him know that you do appreciate him, but you feel a bit neglected lately. Let him know that you need him right now, and that you want to be there for him too while this pregnancy is under way. Tell him you don't feel as appreciated as you used to, and it is harder on you now than ever before because you are carrying this baby and it can be killer on your hormones. I hope this helps and congrats on the baby! I just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant! =0)

Am i being to hard on him? Or what's the best way to approach?

I think he needs a reality check. It seems like he has just given up being that guy he was for the first year and feels like you are his and can skate on by. Do I think he should shower you every time with cards and gifts like before? No. But he should be able to remember your birthday. And more importantly he should be taking care of you right now. Pregnancy is hard, I went through it alone. He shouldn't be making it harder on you. Yeah you should still do your normal stuff, but he needs to realize that at 7 months you are going to have limitations. When you talk to him, don't start it off yelling or anything. Calmly ask him why things are different now, and if there was anyway he could help out more because of everything going on.
Reply:I don't think a guy should forget his girlfriends birthday thats just not right. I think this guy is being unfair.

What gift has meant alot to you that were given by a romantic interest? Why was the gift meaningful?

I'm trying to think about a gift for valentines day for a very close friend. I don't want a humdrum gift like flowers or chocolates nor do I want to get something trashy. Ideas anyone?

What gift has meant alot to you that were given by a romantic interest? Why was the gift meaningful?
(-: Sometimes humdrum makes a lot of sense. My favorite gift from my husband is potted mini-roses. They last a long time, and I love flowers. And every time he surprises me with one, I flash back on the other mini-roses he's given me over the years. It packs quite a punch by now!

It really depends on the tastes of your friend. Does she like Valentine badges? Does she like chocolate? Does she like books? Choose something that will make her happy, and plan to make a tradition out of it. In the long run, that will have tremendous meaning.
Reply:My husband bought me a new outfit, than we went and walked around the botanical gardens, and than we went to a nice restaurant for dinner, it was one of the best days I ever had.

How about a tea set, or some nice candles w/ holders, or an oil diffuser? A gift certificate for a manicure, a book you know she's been wanting, or a framed photo of the two of you together.

Whatever you get her, it's always a good idea to include a card that tells her why she's meaningful to you, she'll cherish that card.
Reply:one guy gave my a necklace.(it wasn't a big fancy exspensive one) but it meant alot to me and i love to wear it it is just a little one that he got at a science museum but it mean't alot to me anyways and i loved it

Hope I Helped:)
Reply:My boyfriend got me a beautiful photo album. He had it engraved with our names and a heart. It was meaningful because he lives eight hours away from me, and I had told him that I wanted to make a scrapbook of the times we've had together.

This website does a lot of personalizing and engraving:

Reply:This gift has not been given to me, and I pray I won't have to accept it, but I met a wonderful man on the internet a year ago. We have quite a close relationship and he has offered me his kidney.
Reply:Mine was this nice portrait of myself on my 18th birthday – done by professional artists from http://www.paintyourlife.com on my girlfriend’s instructions. She secretly sent the photo to them and the finished product came directly to me by post – of course with a personalized message in there from her. I just love it! You.

I have since discovered that the same company also has a studio for oil paintings reproductions. So, if you are looking for an affordable gift urgently, you can take a look at their 'stock on sale' by visiting http://www.oil-paintings-reproductions.c...
Reply:My fiance made me my own chocolate caramels last year with sea salt on top. They were yummy. He also created a dessert he thought I would like based on things he knows that I like. Although the dessert was just okay, the thought was amazing. He is a very thoughtful man.

Edit: And personally, the gifts I have always found most thoughtful are the ones where the person thinks about me as a person and what I like. So, I would say, think about her interests, who she is, and then that will inform your gift.
Reply:I like to read and I appreciate art and an old love once gave me a first edition book illustrated by Salvador Dali that he found in a used book store. Also, he made me a flower press (because I had admired one I saw in a store). He made it from wood that screws together and he had varnished the wood and painted a rose on top and put in layers of foam core and tissue to press flowers. It was really thoughtful because he took the time to make it and because he noticed what I liked.
Reply:O - artwork gift!! I am tremendously amazed by photoartomation work! (http://www.photoartomation.com). Their professional and creative artists convert ordinary photo into art and print them on canvas. Sent them a favorite picture of your friend and they will turn it to the beautiful peace of art. I'm sure your friend would love it very much.
Reply:Think about her or his talents and interests and try to buy somethng taht would be of use for that hobby. like if they like painting give her some expensive paints, or something also if the person is a close friend a nice scrap book will probably touch them. put pics and momentos from your friendship in the book and give it to them. they will laugh at the memories, and be so happy.
Reply:The best gift I have ever recieved was a trip to the snow. I was always saying how I had never seen snow ( lived in the tropics my whole life) and how I wished I could see it. Well my boyfriend suprised me on my birthday with plane tickets for a weekend away at the snow. We had the most amazing time. I will never forget the excitement I felt seeing the snow for the first time. It was the most thoughtfull gift I had ever recieved and I will never forget it. He took the time to find me a gift that was perfect and unexpected and the most memorable present of my whole life.

I guess that is one of the reasons I am marrying the guy. Nobody has ever done anything so wonderful for me before.

Ok... im so confused and dont know what i should do... two situations?

ok, so this girl that i like a lot, well the past few wks have kind of been frustrating and weird. we went out on some dates, liked spending time wit each other alot! then like a wk went by, didnt hear from her, another wk went by, didnt hear anything from her. i called a few times, didnt have a clue what happened. turns out she was in a small accident. well i went by to see her, she was asleep, her friend was there, so i left the flowers and gift cuz i didn want to wake her up. she called me and let me know she was better and said she wanted to get together soon. well another wk went by didnt hear from her. i called her no answer. hadnt heard from her in 2 wks now. its very weird. well i did all i could, i was just gona "move" on, well theres this girl in my class, shes really sweet and cute. theres this class get2gether 2moro nite,i hope she goes so we can chat more. well i get home 2nite and get an email from the other girl, she apologized for not responding. what should i do?????

Ok... im so confused and dont know what i should do... two situations?
Ultimately up to you. No one here can tell you a "right" course of action. Its all opinion based. But ignoring you for one day, understandable, we all get busy. But not finding 2 mins in the course of a week to say, I'm really busy, I will have time to talk this weekend... no excuse. The first girl has another agenda. If she expects you to respond and relate to her in a timely manner, she has to be willing to do it too. Ignore her for a week while you ask out the second girl and go on a date. If she bails on you, then you already know that she had no patience and was not a keeper.

Good luck. Don't be wreckless with people's hearts, but don't put up with those who are wreckless with yours.

Ladies, what can you're husband do for you?

What single act could he do that would drive you passionately insane? The flowers and gift things only go so far. If you had one choice, what would you want him to do that makes you know you're the one person he loves the most? Serious answers please, but smartas*es welcome too. Grrrrrrrr.

sorry, romance and flowers and kisses are easy, anyone can do that. It's sticking through when times are TOUGH that's the hard part, and that shows REAL love.
Reply:LOL We were havin sex last July and all of a sudden he say's... "you are absolutley beautiful and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" and then I replied, "Are you jokin?" LMAO Wish I hadn't said that now lol but it was one of the sweetest things He's ever said. I had to think about this question for a minute cuz he's always saying something to make me say AWWWWWWWWWWW.
Reply:If he picked up after himself when he ate or changed clothes, I'd be his s*x slave for life! lol
Reply:My husband kisses my forehead while I'm busy doing something else... cooking, writing checks, reading, etc... and says I love you beautiful. and kisses my head again. I think it is the most precious thing ever. It makes me melt.

He also introduces me to new people as his beautiful wife.
Reply:when I come home and dinner is ready and the baby is fed I love it!
Reply:FOr me the one thing my husband could do would be to say thank you. THank you for cooking, cleaning, laudry, thank you for the beautiful daughter you gave me, thank you for being you. just a simple thank you would make all those everyday things so much more worthwhile.
Reply:Sorry, I know I'm a guy, but I had to jump in this discussion.

Women say romance is easy. But is it now? I posted this question a while ago.......

Ladies: How would you react if you came in your place and saw this?

If your husband decorated the ENTIRE place Asian, had an Asian cuisine prepared for you, by candlelight, gave you a jasmine bubble bath, actually washed you, by candlelight, and gave you a full body massage, on orchid petals, of course by candlelight, how would you react? What would you do afterward? Of course I know what reactions will happen, but I just want to hear some personal opinions from you ladies.

For the record, I'm not decorating the ENTIRE place as in hanging chandeliers and $#!+ like that, but I will have Asian decor, scrolls, place setting, etc. Also, decorating the other areas, and putting this whole thing together is long and energy-draining. Plus I have to be sneaky because she wants to call as I'm getting the things needed, so that doesn't make it any easier. But the thing about it is, anytime I do something big like that, it's appreciated, and it creates memories.

So, do you still think romance is easy? I think not. I always try to think outside the box when I do things. Plus, I do it simply because it's Thursday June 15 2006 2:43 PM. I don't do it because I'm in the doghouse, I do it because I love her, and she's worthy of my time, energy and dedication.
Reply:Treat me like I am is best friend. We used to be but life got in the way. Now his buddies take precedence over me. Totally sucks, we used to have great times together and get along like best friends.
Reply:Well most women are high on emotions, so usually to get to a woman's heart , u should concentrate on what pulls her heart strings.. something my husband did that i thought was super sweet and didnt cost much money to do, is he went out and bought a bunch of those mushy i love u cards.. filled them out and then before he went to work he left them all over the house for me to find during my day.. like he knows my normal routine, of getting something to drink when i first wake up, so he put one in the refrigerator, put one in the silverware drawer , put one in the cabinet, put one in the bathroom medicine cabinet where i keep my make up.. ect.. all day long i kept finding all these cards all over the house, seemed anytime i opened something there was one of these cards.. I was floating on cloud 9..
Reply:if i'll have a hubby, his love is enough 4 me. he'll be a good provider, a wonderful dad %26amp; a loving husband.
Reply:My husband is not a very emotional person (he is, just doesn't show it)....it's either happy or mad....his hurt, or sad, or whatever, comes out as mad or angry....the first time I ever saw him cry (after almost 6 years of marriage) was when my step-dad had an accident. We didn't think he was going to live...my husband was on the phone explaining the situation to somebody, and after he got off the phone he just broke down...i loved him more in that moment (and ever since) than I ever have...not because he got upset and cried, but because he "allowed" himself to do it in front of me....
